ABOUT
Sharon Churchill is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with extensive experience in family violence, sexual assault, complex trauma, depression, anxiety and adjustment issues. Sharon has also worked in the areas of child protection and family welfare, and has a strong understanding of the local service system, including good networks with local family violence and sexual assault services. Sharon has a specialised interest in working with young people aged 12-25. Sharon has the following qualifications:

Bachelor of Social Work with Distinction (Deakin University)

Bachelor of Arts, Humanities and Social Services (Latrobe University)

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (MHSW, AASW)

Registered with the AASW

Certified in Trauma-Focused CBT

Current enrolment: Master of Youth Mental Health, University of Melbourne (to be completed in 2025).
Sharon is experienced in assessments and reports to the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal, at request from an applicant's legal team.
Sharon is registered with the Family Reconciliation Mediation Program to provide individual therapeutic interventions to young people in Bass Coast/South Gippsland who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Having worked across health and community settings, Sharon has a strong understanding of local support networks and can assist in navigating and accessing services in the health, welfare and community sectors. Sharon is committed to collaborative practice with other providers.

Sharon's therapeutic approach gives her clients a safe space that is respectful, non-judgemental, inclusive and embedded in mutuality. She has a warm and kind approach and focuses on identifying her client's existing strengths and building on their resources and supports. Sharon works alongside her clients to set goals and review progress.

Fees & Referrals

Cancellations
At times a cancellation cannot be avoided. A cancellation fee of $50 will be charged for cancellations without 24 hours notice and/or non-attendance, to cover our operating costs.
If you cannot attend your appointment, a text message, email or phone call is appreciated to reschedule.
GP Referral
If you are referred by your doctor via the Better Access Program or the Enhanced Primary Care Program, cost per session is $160, with a $82 rebate from Medicare.

Sharon offers a sliding scale fee for those experiencing financial difficulties, which can be discussed during initial intake.

Victims Assistance
If you are a victim of crime you may be eligible for counselling sessions with no out of pocket costs with a referral via your Victims Assistance Program (VAP) Case Manager. Victims of Crime reports (VOCAT) are also able to be completed by your MHSW.
